Google recognizes the two as completely different domains. It's like having a subdomain.domain.com

You probably have your site without the WWW, right?

Yeah then it doesn't matter, as long as your actual site is where the PR3 is. Don't worry about the PR1 being on the www. side of the domain because that is a completely different subdomain according to google which is why they are assigned different pagerank.

Ask your host how to properly re-direct the site and make sure it wasn't already being redirected.

Next time make sure all your links are headed to where your site is, without the www.

You can redirect all the pages through .htaccess

Search google for canonical urls + htaccess

I did redirect non www through .htaccess with the following information:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mt-example\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mt-example.com/$1 [L,R=301]

and got PR back 1 to 3 from non to www verison.

but now the prob is my site blog is not opening.

i installed wordpress on my site by using Fantastisco from hostgator cpanel.

    it's url is http://domain.com/blog

    giving the following messages:

    Redirect Loop
The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.

what should i do now?

    add this

    <link rel="canonical" href="http://domain.com">

and you might need to find another .htaccess 301 redirect, your current redirect might be wrong.

and your blog settings please check

read more here searchmarketer.ph/canonical-url-solution.php on link rel canonical

    How about this:

    /redirect 301 http://domain.com http://www.domain.com

i used this above redirection for cloaking all my affiliate links.

will this method work for canonical url?

thanks for the info. right now i don't wanna go for link rel.:)
