I am thinking of using just plain text instead of an image for the logo but i am unable to get the font right. Is there any place where i can get the fonts which i could use in logos?

You can try dafont.com or fawnt.com
Both are nice resources for free fonts.

If you are going to use only a font without any type of symbol, you might want to consider customizing the font, even just a little bit, to make it unique for your brand.

I think it so that the user who is visiting your site has to have the same font that you are using in your logo to see it right. Otherwise the browser is using the default font.

Hey HDaddy this is true for text on a webpage but he is talking about text inside images, with images everybody will see the same text.
