i recently set up a website and viewed the website from Google chrome and IE browsers and Google chrome browser displayed some images of the website with a faded effect..
but the IE browser displayed it fine..i want to know if all web browsers display templates/sites slightly differently?and what is the best way to avoid these problems?

Slightly different, yes coz that's how browser render your codes. If something major then you can have separate CSS file for a browser to fix the issue. However not sure what do you mean by faded image. I am not aware of loss of image quality.

would you like to share the URL of your site so we can take a look? and does it really cause that much of a problem with images having a faded effect?

neham_rules .. nobody will be able to help you without seeing what you are talking about. Please share a link of your page. Also, what version of IE bowser do you use ?
my advice is to design your site using chrome, or firefox that would make your website looks the same on all major browsers. Don't use IE when designing a new template.

Post the screenshoot and the css code part which the problem is associated with, then perhaps we can help.
