Different anchors from one page bad?

    If you have in your signature for eg more links with different anchor texts to the same site is useless,dumb or wrong in other way? Someone said you can be penalised for this, but i find it hard to belive! Please enlighten me!

    I think same links in one pages is useless because they only sees as one links and as for the forums sig I think it's not allowed to use same links with different anchor text. But if you would use different anchor text from different sites I think it's ok.

    Thats a good question mabye some of the seo experts around here can tell ya..
    id like to know too..

    It would be nice if you could..
    Like that way you could optomize for 2 different search terms as far as inbound linkage..

    But it might possiably hurt ya.. hmm lets wait and see who posts next :)

    Yes, you can use multiple anchor texts with the same link on the same page, I don't really think there is a penalty for doing this. The links however will not give as much weight, since your dividing it up between 2 links. It is kinda like how pagerank works, the more links the less PR juice per link. With multiple links on one page to the same address will cause them to have less weight then if they were unique.

    In theory, your better off have one unique link with a anchor text, this is the better solution.

    You can however have different links, remember when trying to rank on search engines you don't just aim for your homepage. I personally try to build links for many of my important pages.

    If your content demands a couple of links to make it more useful, you should go with multiple links. May be you can use nofollow tags for some of the links. Write for human not for SE.
