Hi, Looking in Google search for backlinks, I have discovered that I have more without the www, Than with domain.com or www.domain(.)com Google see them differently. So does it matter how the link is promoted? Thanks for your thoughts, webfriend
They don't really matter how the link is promoted as long as you 301 redirect all the links to the same domain (either without the www. or with). Otherwise, the main problem created is duplicate content. I've made a search on Google regarding this 301 redirect: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=30...avclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enGB241GB241 Might help you!
Hi crystak, Thanks for the info on this subject..I found this example, I'll put in place Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on rewritecond %{http_host} ^domain.com [nc] rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [r=301,nc] I have some of my backlinks pointing both ways, one may be heavy on domain.com and the other site is heavy on the www.domain(.)com So I'll set everything to www.domain, Unless anyone disagrees with this And thanks again for the replay. Webfriend
Yeah, doing that 301 redirect and setting your preferences to www.domain in the webmaster tools section will help the two pages be seen as one, with time.
It's better to practice using the domain with "www"....it is considered as different site if you only use the domain without "www"....they have problem in terms of backlinks and PR....
Don't understand, but what worse I went to google webmaster tools to make sure they understood, what I'm doing and they can't find some sites. but they are listed with www?
