Hello. I run a website with a search option through google custom search, allowing the user to search the whole of the web. I get on average around 3000 queries a day, which generates 70-120 clicks on average. I can't get over the differences between amounts i've been getting, for example, yesterday was a bad day, 69 clicks, £0.98 eCPM, £2.58 earnings, but today I am currently on 64 clicks, £11.53 eCPM, £24.59 earnings. The difference is a lot, and I am assuming this is just because of what the user is searching for, higher keywords have been searched for today than yesterday. Has anyone else seen any results like this? Any advice? Thanks guys.
Time of day and day of the week can also play a big role as advertisers can turn campaigns on and off. I've been testing banner ads vs text ads in the exact same location on a site of mine. The banner ads are paying maybe 3 cents a click. The text ads pay as much as $.60 per click. Same site, same spots. Same niche obviously. All you can do is test and go with what works best. Just this past week I had a site pull over $50 then the next day about $15 and the volume and click throughs were almost identical for both days! Like everyone who has been using Google for some time... I'd sure like real tools to track what is going on. But Google doesn't want us to know that.
good results there. I have also tried publishing different time of day and it works well when its AM in East Asia
As you said, the fact is correct. Adsense are generated on the keyword searched by your users. Also CPC will depend upon the adv displayed. Make sure that you block those which will generate low CPC. You can check the approximate CPC from Google adwords tool.
