Hello, I'm using google.com from middle east to track search results for different search terms. When appending the string: "gl=us" to the address bar, the search results change in different levels. Some search results remain still wherever it had been before. Other search results change a little bit, starting from one or two slots, up to an entire page. And the third group is search results which completely disappear from the serps, or move more than 5 pages off. I'm looking for answers for the three following questions: 1. Do incoming links from a specific area have the most influence on the google area search? ex: links from .de, .fr, .uk websites will have less influence on google.com&rg=us than links from .com, .ws sites. 2. Do links from specific zones inside the us influence differently on different groups of IPs? ex: A network of websites hosted in Texas US link to a website. Maybe the linked website will appear higher for users who search from Texas, than fur users who search from Manhattan 3. A general question: What else do you know about Google.com comparing to google.zones ? Thanks in advanced.
Google does use localized targeting. So people from the US see different results than people from the Netherlands or the Middle East. It's about the kind of sites that link to a certain site, domain name (.com, .us, .nl etc.) and the place the site is hosted.
