    Hello friends;

    Recently I purchased a master reseller.... and I took a dedicated IP for my name server as well as 2 dedicated ips for my name servers ns1 and ns2

    Now my doubt is.... Have I wasted the money buying 2 more didicated IP's for my name servers?? or would it be of real help??

    What difference does it make having the dedicated or shared nameservers....??

    NOTE: Am aware about the use of dedicated ip for my domain... I am curious about those for name servers....

    Awaiting for some healthy responses...

    Regards;
    Sujay

    Hi,

    If your hosting the DNS on the name-server then you probably could have got away with only using two IPs. The only advantage I can see in using "dedicated" IPs for your name-servers is that you can set the PTR records to different host-names if you have access to the IP's PTR records.

    You need at least two DNS servers but hosting them on the same server makes it a moot point.

    As above, the only advantage of using two different IP's is your users can't immediately you're a reseller by reversing the shared nameserver IP's. However, it's still easily possible, and possible the two dedicated IP's are a waste of money.
