Can you share your experience, please - How big is difference in the amount of traffic depending on the place on the first page ? Let's say 8-10 with 1-3. Thanks.
Based on my experience and I am sure each industry is different 8-10 will see about 20% of the traffice 1-3 will.
if ur in position 8,9,10 then there is nearly 30% of decrease in traffic with compare 1 or 2, No 10 position is better then 7-8 as per my experience.
Thanks for sharing. I do not feel big difference between 10 and 8. So i should check how it feels on 1-3
AOL actually released search click through data at the tail end of last year http://www.marketingchat.org/resources/information/serp-click-through-rates-3.html
This article should give you the info you need to know (I'm not able to post a live link yet): seopedia.org/internet-marketing-and-seo/eye-tracking-analysis-of-user-behavior-in-websites-and-search-engines/
Also, 11 or 12 sometimes is better than 8, 9. Hmm but thats abit off topic, rereading the title but interesting to see Matt's chart extend to second page.
This question is incredibly keyword/industry dependant. I have a poetry site that gets traffic from people going hundreds of pages deep on some terms. People will surf pages and pages of porn looking for what they want. Same with research material I would think, school oriented stuff. Other stuff, like shopping, it can be page 1 or death. Also depends on what the top people are offering. Sometimes obviously spammy or low quality sites won't get clicks, or get the back button right away, so being under them doesn't count for as much. This is also where snippet comes into play big time. Very under-rated aspect of the big picture, if you ask me. -Michael
