What is the difference between xml sitemap vs html sitemap ?
Which is better ?

 

HTML sitemaps for humans + search engines (like any other webpage)
XML sitemaps for search engines

 

do you know if the xml sitemap we create for google if it works for Baidu in China as well? how to submit sitemap to Baidu?

 

XML sitemap is purely for search engine and HTML sitemap is basically for site user. Its better to use both.

HTML sitemap is used for user so that one should find any pages easily if website has large number of pages.
XML sitemap is used for search engine for crawling all pages easily through search engine spider.
So both are important for SEO point of view.

Giving you an example of When Sitemap.xml is most useful over Sitemap.html :

Consider you have a site just like facebook and twitter which generate good no. of crawlable pages every day. In this case if you have sitemap.xml with all the new urls which you want to get indexed in google then you just need to submit your sitemap.xml to google, then all new profile will get indexed by google.

Sitemap.xml is the best way to tell search engines that you have got some new pages which you need to get indexed. While Sitemap.html will become massive if you display too many URLs/pages in it. Hope that make sense.
