difference between web directory and social bookmarking ?

Hi

Any body please tell me what is difference between web directory and social bookmarking
there is needed same content url, title, disc, keyword, and category is little hug list of category is different but we can use keyword in social bookmarks so let me know what is different between web directory and other offpage activities
social bookmarks immediately publish our link so why we doing directory submission ??

 

Great Post!!! See, Both are use for backlinks in SEO.. Generally it's a traditional way to start SEO with the Web Directory than SB. In web directory we will submit a website on particular keyword. in this we write title like keyword and also description is small, we can't make a friends, groups etc.. in social bookmarking, it gives more traffic, we make friends, groups, one things we can submit a link with his tag, it's description becomes long compare to directory submission.....

 

using social bookmarking is more active. You can control your activities, like sharing your links to friends, groups or keep them for yourself. However, directories submission's advantage is that it opens more widely so that more people can access your sites.

The difference:
Bookmarking sites like Delicious/Digg and hundreds of other bookmarking sites generally are based on peoples choice, the more the links are liked, the more exposure it gets.

Directories like Yahoo/DMOZ and hundreds of well administered web directories can only be added into the directory base on the editors discretion whether free or paid.

The similarities:
Bookmarking sites & Web Directories:

• Allows you to submit a site for exposure to people or search engines.
• Allows you to view submitted sites any where you are on the world with an internet connection.
• Lets you organize your submitted sites in a category structure (Tags or Categories).
• Allows others to rate or make comments on submitted sites.

The positive of both:
Allows for exposures to sites which search engines may have not notice.

The negatives of both:

• If poorly administered, could allow poorly submitted sites which delivers users to questionable sites which may be harmful to users (this relates to poorly engineered search engines too).
• Both can be known to be rigged, meaning that for bookmarking sites can be use to pay some one to get more exposures which leads users to sites that aren't that great. For web directories a paid submissions are generally accepted great or not. Also to also bring out the negative, search engines are not always in a Saint-hood here, they too are manipulated in their search results, either by ads or SEO companies manipulating the results.

Both has the importance in their field. But personally i feel social bookmarking is more effective to directory submission.

Generally we do social bookmarking for fast google indexing and more traffic, but purpose of directory submission is to create back links for the sites.
In SB we can make friends and join groups to promote our site but in Directory Submission we only submit our site into the appropriate category.
But both are useful from the search engine's point of view.

 

yes its great post ! there is nothing different but web directory creating quality backlinks and social bookmarking site ill remove your links with limited period
so directory submission its batter activities in off page

 

Bookmarking is mere collection of links with no set categories under which the links are placed. Anyone & everyone can submit their links & there is little or no editorial review of these links. Bookmarking hundreds of links on one page and all of them linking to out sites of various topics, basically no meaningful purpose behind the links on the page.

But a webdirectory is not only a collection of links but links have been categorized under relevant topics & sites are listed only after they undergo editorial review. All links in a web directory are well-categorized and meaningfully sorted out.

 

Directory submission is starting point for seo and Bookmarking is upgrade form of it, there is a lot of option which directory submission haven't but in Bookmarking these are available ..........

In social bookmarking, it gives more traffic, we make friends, groups etc.For indexing and quality backlinks it is handy.

 

Some Directory submission need reciprocal links and some directories need monthly and yearly charges as compare to social bookmarking is very better because u know social bookmarking is totally free and easy to add link in that.
