As a publisher, I should know the answer to this... but I don't.... What's the difference between these two links: http://affiliate.publisher.hop.clickbank.net and http://affiliate.publisher.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=ANOTHERWORD I have no idea what the ?tid= thing is. Thanks.
The irony is... I didn't think the link above was a real link... and, it turns out.... it is a real link.... and if I click it, I find the answer to my question. How strange. Okay, so now I know it's a tracking code. But I'm not sure I understand how to use one.
Let's say you've setup 2 adwords campaigns, you can assign these words/id's to identify which traffic came from where, and what converted... If you have 10 marketing techniques, you can have 10 id's tracking them all.
Hi the way tracking ID works is you make a list of the keywords you have in your campaign then you assign any number, letter or whatever you wish for each keyword for example make money - 1, how to make money - 2 and you get the idea after that you get links to the product that you are going to promote as many links as keywords you have and you put in every link the number corresponding to the keyword. if you make a sale you will find in your transactions stats in ClickBank the link with the tracking ID that made the sale Next thing you do you delete the keywords that are not making money and you increase the buget for the money makers.
The First link is simple affiliate hoplink The second link is affiliate hoplink with tracking ID. Tracking ID helps you to find out, how and from where you received a sale, so you can concentrate on that way of promoting.
Right on bl4ckmaN^, I ould add, be SURE to track your advertising because this will make you more money. Do not neglect tracking, it's very important. As an example, today I made a sale for a parenting product (an old site of mine that I don't touch any more), and since I didn't use any tracking, I don't have a clue where the sale came from! Do you see what I mean? If I knew where was the sale coming, I could replicate this and add a new stream of income...
Thanks everyone for the helpful information..... I just added a tracking code to a few of my affiliate links. (I just made up a code 8 characters or less-- I don't have to register it with clickbank first, right?) I'm anxious to see them work. - FB the OP
