"Free Web Directory" & "Web Directory". Does "Free Web Directory" covers the keyword "Web Directory" ? or we need to do SEO for both keywords separetly?

According to semrush Free Web Directory has 1300 searches, Web Directory 8100 searches. And when I type "Free Web Directory" semrush don't show me in th e first part " Web Directory". So I think it's better do seo separately.

    Hi

Free Web Dictionary will rank for Web Dictionary under the same premise as when you add "review", "best", etc. to a domain when you can't find a keyword EMD. Especially if there is very low competition for the shorter Web Dictionary.

For SEO, they would both be targeted as separate keywords. So if your on-page SEO and backlinks target Free Web Dictionary, you could still rank for Web Dictionary, but there are likely competitors targeting that keyword specifically so you would have an easier time with whichever you are actively targeting.

In your example Free Web Dictionary is a longer tail and presumably easier to rank for than Web Dictionary.

You could target Free Web Dictionary until you rank then target Web Dictionary and it will benefit both from the earlier work you did on the longer tail keyword as well as the active work you do targeting it.

onSubie is correct. You will rank for Web Dictionary if you target the Free Web Dictionary keyword. However, this is a high-competition keyword so you might want to include Web Dictionary in your keyword list and rank for that too.

If you are working for "Free Web Directory" keyword, then your 4 keywords already promoting like "Free", "Web", "Directory" and "Web Directory". Because Google will show all the result including "free web directory" keyword.

I agree with onSubie. In general, "Free Web Dictionary" covers the keyword "Web Dictionary". But it is not easy to rank well for "Web Dictionary" while you are targeting "Free Web Dictionary". So first of all you have to rank well for long tail keyword which is "Free Web Dictionary". After ranking for that you should target the short tail or generic keyword "Web Dictionary".

While building links with high PR sites for your target keywords will help your site get good PR too, this in itself will not get you good traffic. Building backlinks take time too so while PR is important, it is more important to promote your site first to get more traffic.
