First two weeks of January my site reached #8 on Google. What do I see in my logs - massive traffic! Then next two weeks the site listed on Page 2 and I saw almost 50% drop in traffic. Now once again the site is on Page 1 and same as January - massive traffic. Difference between Page 1 and Page 2 is quite a huge number (at least for my site) Do rest of you out there see the same kind of stats?
These stats were discussed by whole webmaster community when AOL accidentally released some data about their searches. And yes there is 'huge' difference not only from page1 to page2 but also for rank 1 and rank 2.
Based on AOL data the first result page gets 89.68% of clicks. The source and more interesting stats: http://www.decenttools.com/aol/stats/
It is amazing what a difference a page can make - but also what a difference a rank can make. Being 3rd instead of 4th is noticeable.
