difference between joomla and mambo?

    Mambo was first - but due to internal license differences, I believe, the community broke of and along came Joomla. Both are pretty reputable - maybe Joomla is a little more hyped ... but it's pretty much based on the same. Not that much difference.

    Just to clarify pj1s' point: although they are very similar right now, Joomla 1.5 is pretty much a complete rewrite. I don't know about the development of Mambo, but Joomla is definitely moving away from the 'original, common' source base.

    Mambo development seems to have all but stopped. They're only developing exploits now! :)

    Mambo is kinda dead now , every one is using joomla since it has a more active community(=more addons) most of new Mambo addons are Joomla's that happen to also work on Mambo!
