What is the difference between Google.com, Google.com (Universal) and Google.com (USA)? Site is ranking on 10th with one keyword in google.com but not in USA. Despite using the same search engines, results can be entirely different. Google.com redirects to your local Google version (Google.co.uk, Google.com.au, Google.de, etc.) thn why google.com results vary, dont you think, it should not be ?. Result discrepancies are often a source of conflict between companies
Google search is all about making money for Google. So Google tracks visitors IP's and they also track visitor behaviors with cookies. They know where traffic is coming from and will redirect users to whatever pages will make them the most profit. It's really that simple. While not always correct if a user in the UK is served USA content they are less likely to make a purchase than from UK content. Google... those guys are pretty smart.
Not only can Google's rankings be influenced by geographic location and personalization (history), they can also be influenced by intentions. So, you have to pick your battles carefully these days.
i m Also Curious about your Question as you are. i also want to know about the Google . Very informative Question.CAn any one tell US plz? Difference between Google.com, Google.com (Universal) and Google.com (USA)
I thought all results wherever you are in google.com is the same, didn't know this until now. Hope someone can explain this one to us.
They have different Date center for each country. How did you check this? Google.com is showing almost same result in every country.
When I'm checking my site rankings I use a proxy server so that my previous searches/location are not taken into account. For instance, one of my websites targets a specific type of business in the USA. If I look on my default Google site (Google.co.nz) my rankings are very different to those on Google.com. Try accessing Google via hidemyass.com or some other proxy server to get impartial results.
I am not sure about the reason but yeah its true that Google.com in US would have different results (not very different though) from Google.com in UK or any other country in the world. They're never the same.
Every result is filtered based on the ip address, the geographical location and also might be influenced by the search trend of the visitor. That's good in way for the user. It is basically for the ease of the person searching anything using Google. To me it is a great thing. Having anything tailor-made is the best thing and Google search eventually does that based on certain parameters.
Yes. hm right Yup agree. but still whats about the general keywords? But Result discrepancies are reason of conflict between companies.. what would you say about general keywords (not influenced based on geographical location).
Well Google results varies depending upon the traffic for a particular product from a particular country. If users are interested in purchasing the product in US based listing in Us then all the listings of US will get displayed, but not UK.
i am facing same problem, when i check my ranking in google.com. It's shows in top 10. But when i use proxy server and check my site has around 80th ranking. Plz suggest me what i do for rank in US locally
