Difference between cache and index

Indexing is a process to make a webpage searchable on search engine whereas the process of caching refers to providing a reprinting content snapshot.

Simply indexing means your website is included in the Google database and caching means the date on which your site is frequently read by the google spiders.

 

cache: Google knows about your site
Index: Google have saved your sites pages in its web server

 

Cache: When search engine bot or crawler come on your site page and found any changes its take a snapshot and submit on our database. its help to know about the last visit of spider on your web page and you should know that how often visit your site by spider.

Index: After reading the updated element search engine spider stores all new elements in Search Engine's database. This restoration process is called Indexing. The main purpose of search engine to index any page is, If any visitor search any query on search engine and search engine spider think your page related to the query, its show your website info on here search results.

Cache is just a copy of your local pages in Google's server after google indexing.

 

Cache: Any SE saves a copy of "Webpage" on their server. And they keep on updated. So, the cache page will give you the idea when was the last time any SE crawled ur webpage and how it looked. It is a features for power users to know when your website was last crawled. Which help you in determining the crawl rate of particular SE.

Index: On the same line, has a very slight difference, it means how many pages of your website is cached by any SE. For example, you have 100 webpages, out of which 50 got indexed. So now, you can see the cache or preview of that pages in that particular SE.

I think cached means google know about you and you are in eye of google.and indexing show the importance of your page.

If you getting good amount of traffics then google will index you page and then for related keywords you can get positions in SERPs.

Cached - No positions in SERPs
Index - You page will show in SERPs.

index is the list maintained by google. n cache is the image of the webpage maitained by google.

 

Sorry to say that you are wrong my friend. First crawlers cache the page then index it. Its not necessary that every cache page would be indexed but every indexed page will be cached.

 

Cache is the most recent saved page or recent update in search engine. It is helpful because you can know how often spider or search engine agent visit your site. Indexing means the page is stored in the search engine database. If you search by a particular keyword then search engine show the particular page related to that keyword.

 

Cache would be the way that google look(see) your page , the actual way that the crawler crawled your page - index usually come first and straight afterward cache . index would mean that crawlers saw the website and will now add it to googles database and continue looking at it.
