All are very good points. Google loves blogs because of updated content and the # of inbounds that spew from the blogs like a volcano erupting in Hawaii.

I see a lot of you assuming websites are business sites. A website doesn't have to be just a business site. You can have a website about yourself and your personal life if you want to, it's still a "conventional" website.

As one poster stated correctly above, a blog is a web log or diary or journal of sorts. Blogs are posts made in chronological order relating to one or several topics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

A "conventional" website is a web address and pages relating to one or more topics - they can be business, charity, personal, political or anything.

Technically though to clarify for the original poster, a blog is a subcategory of website. All blogs are websites or part of websites, not all websites are blogs nor contain blogs.

For clarification on types on websites look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website#Types_of_websites

    Hope this helps.

A company has a website. That website talks to customers.
A person has a blog. That blog talks to people.

A blog enables me to easily update information and put a 'human' face on my company. It enables me to connect directly with stakeholders. Websites don't have the flexibility the blog format does."

"Communicate, interact, discuss, share, build and grow your relationships with customers and prospects and thought leaders in your industry. A website is static, rigid. By comparison a blog is flexible, modifiable, current. That precipitates a conversation, a sharing of ideas and knowledge with peers. A website kills the conversation. It says' here's the information, take it or leave it.' A blog allows discussion, a partnership."

"Our web site is more product and company-focused, and a blog allows us to interact more with our intended audience."
