When using h1 tags, I've learned know to use the tags with the page title. What and where is the page title compared to the site title? Thanks!
The Site-title is usually the website you are visiting. However, the page title, it will be the title of the page you are visiting. For example, this site page title will be "Differance between page title and site title?" In general, the page title is what appears at the top of the browser. And the site title refers to what website you are visiting.
You could have a website selling shoes, so the website title shoes dot whatever, with page title as red shoes, blue shoes etc.
If you see through SEO perspective then they are the same. As what you are visiting every time is a page not site all alone. But logically as my fellow users have already discussed your site name can serve as site title where as the page title is all about what your page is having.
Thanks for the great explantations... Someone PM and stated H1s should go in the page headers and not the page title, is this correct?
The Site title means the website which you are visiting. So for this I would most likely put DP forums, or if its asks for the URL it would forums(dot)digitalpoint(dot)com BUt on the other hand the page title would be the title of the page which you are currently visiting. in this case this site I would put: "What is the difference between Site Title and Page Title?" Usually, the page title is what shows up at the top of your browser, and the site title refers to what website you are visiting.
Site title is the domain name while page title is the H1, usually the title of the article on that page.
The Site title is usually what website you are visiting. For the page title however, it would be the title of the page you are currently visiting. For example, this site I would put: "What is the difference between Site Title and Page Title?"
The site title means the name of the website you are viewing (in this case it would be http://www.digitalpoint.com) and the page title will the whatever is written in the browser window.
