Why in the world would you want to pay that much to promote a directory? There is so much more you can do with that money.

It has a very small value in terms of pr and traffic. Unless your site was one of the first to get listed in that category. But to answer your question, yes I did pay yahoo to get listed.

Ask Directory is Listed at yahoo, you get a lot of links on the several regional yahoo directories, traffic is almost 0

    Branding

I'd say huge avatar renting branding, not submitting your site to a directory..

I agree with this in part. Although I do not really like the look of it, avatar branding is a not a bad idea in terms of branding. At the same time I would not over look directory listing branding either. I spoke with one of the top directory owners on this forum a while back about this and his thing was all about name branding, wheter it was through directory listings or banner ads on other authority sites. Avatar branding only works on forums, but if you really want the name out there then you need to be seen in dozens of other locations.

Yeah, there's only so much you can do with avatar branding. But it's a great idea. On the other hand I don't think submitting to other directories will do much for branding. Branding doesn't come easy.

I personally don't submit my directory to other directories, that's out of choice, not money problems or anything like that. I just don't think its beneficial. My directory linksjuice.com has had a very good start without it considering it was only announced live in December sometime.

    oo no

i would rather submit to other PR 6 directories and get like 4 - 5 links rather than getting one link at yahoo.com
