did you earn more when you left just one ad unit in your blog pages??

I tried it while I was blogging at blogger. I placed one ad unit in my blog in blogger and removed all others and hey within a week the change was clear. My earning were raised 6 folds...

Now I have shifted to wordpress and yet to apply ads in there but I am sure that I will use just 1 ad unit!!

I even wrote an article about my experience..see that!!

    Hey nofullstop

I think, maybe, the difference for you when having more than one ad unit may have been that there were some lower paying ads showing up simply because there were more spaces available. Just an idea.

Whenever I have more than one ad unit on a page I always use a different channel for each one. That way you know which one (in what location) is getting clicks and for how much.

If you only add 1 ad in your page, the AdSense team will write to you and tell you can add more ad in your page and get more revenue.

So, I add at least 3 ad in one page.

Yes, that is true and you have to find that balance for yourself as it can vary widely depending upon your content/niche

I've tried that, but then it didn't make much, so I implemented another.

I just lowered my ads from 3 to 2 the other day. Waiting to see if that makes a difference.

Hopefully, it does generate more money doing that because a less cluttered page would do wonders for my readers.

My CPC has been cut in half.

I wonder if it's the fewer ads displayed or advertisers not paying a lot today.

That is what I wrote in my article of what happened when I used just one ad unit...

you see when you use only one ad unit adsense displays the highly paying ads on that unit and you in turn tend to earn more. I prefer just one text ad unit under the heading and others are image only adsense units. This combination is great...

    it does work..

It depends on the page topic and how much ad inventory Google has. I place only a single ad block on pages that have a very narrow topic for which Google only has a few ads. When I placed multiple blocks on the page, some of the ads repeated and the rest were very likely low-paying ads.

I decide that kind of thing by changes over a month.

If you change the number of ads today, and look at changes in revenue over the next three days, the results are deceiving.

My site jumps from $1 on Tuesday with 500 impressions, to $8 on Thurday with 300 impressions - and without even touching the number of ads.

You have to read the average over a month or so to know if a change was useful.

Unless you do a change, and see 10 consecutive days of doubled income - that would be fine.

My earnings doubled by putting 3 ads on a page instead of just 1 ad. But only on pages where there was room.

Earnings are less if you place only one ad unit (in my opinion)..
But mine is a new forum, so need to attract visitors...
