Today I logged in to Google Webmaster Tools and failed to find sitelinks inside while they do exist in natural search results. Nevertheless, there is no message "Google has not generated any sitelinks for your site", and there is also a textbox to demote a sitelink. Is it a new interface or a bug? Or maybe Google is simply going to remove my sitelinks. Did anyone notice similar GWT behavior? Dennis.
Yeah, It happened (or I noticed it) the day they made changes to how sitelinks were displayed in the SERPs. I'm not sure whether they plan to show a list of sitelinks like they used to or not, but I hope they do. I've demoted 9 URL's so far on one of my sites. That site originally had 43 sitelinks shown in Webmaster tools before the latest change. (8 for the TLD "/", 8 for 4 language sub-folders "/pt/, /jp/" etc and 3 for another sub-folder). I even had the robots.txt showing as one of the sitelinks when searching for my site on google.pt So yeah, the sitelink demotion tool can come in handy, but it would be nice to have the full list of sitelinks that are displayed so you could prioritize them. Cheers James
Sometimes they dissapear, but sometimes they are back again. You can also check with Yahoo site explorer to see your backlinks.
I think the old method was quite easy to demote sitelinks, because not you have to copy your particular URL to remove its from sitelinks.
I have noticed this. Sometimes they appear and sometimes they disappear. I don't know what they are used for and if they have any importance.
