I am having a dynamic IP.But I wonder what all I can benefit from it ? I am using it for unlimited download from RS. But any more use ?
I don't have one, but one of the things they are used for is to be able to make your PC a server, by assigning a domain name to your IP, and then setting up a server.
Dynamic IPs are configured automatically using DHCP. You never have to think about them. However, they also change (how often will vary), making them inconvenient for servers. It could be said that this is good for privacy, but it is not a big deal. Static IPs have to be configured manually, but once they are set, they never change. This means you will never have any trouble finding your computer. Most ISPs charge extra for static IPs. The other difference between the two is if someone (or you) are trying to access your network (computer) from another computer OUTSIDE of hour house, the static IP gives you a permanent address to do so. Unless you are hosting a website or any service, dynamic IP is sufficient.
