    i think keeping it short helps because no one has time to type such long names :)

    i guess knowing the max length of a domain is helpful because you could write out something semantically, such as: wheretofindthebestvacationdeals.com or something instead of 123cheapvacations.com... but i agree that short & sweet (and unique) is still the way to go.
