Great tip Doing it right now. Also first time I use this option, but thank God good people who made vbulletin are serious about what they do.
I also added him to my ignore list a couple days ago as my first to ignore. It is nice except for the people who respond to the antagonistic statements made by him and quoting his comments. So I would also suggest to those that don't want to ignore him. At least don't quote him so those of us that really don't want to read that junk, don't have to in quotes from others. Just my opinion.
my 2 cents about the whole directory and search engine thing happening lately: Directories are very important part of internet for search engines to find good websites and just any new website... So I dont believe they will go away (compeltely) any time soon... However, recently the directory market has been about to explode with all new directory owners. A lot of the new free directories accpet almost any website (some paid directories accept any website that pays too). So directories lost some of their authority and importance. I believe Search Engines still want directories, but the latter move to punish some (some of big boys in the business too) was to send a warning message to watch out, dont lower your quality (not that directories like Avivia or Alive did so), dont over advertise (buying links aggressively) (which is I think what Aviva and Alive were doing),... Bottom line I believe those directories will come back and directory business will get better than ever. Cheers,
I don't spend a lot of time on forums. I don't have the time to spare. But I do see the need for moderation in this industry.
Here is another question, did anyone lose rank in the search engine that mostly submited to dirctories?
shahab6 that question has been asked many times before and being listed in directories, even the worst ones will never have a negative impact on your websites. The absolute worst that would happen is the link would not count. Otherwise it would be too easy to sink your competition, you could simply submit their sites to a few dozen 'bad' directories and laugh all the way to the bank. Add: After reading your post again I am not sure if I answered your question.
I wish i could find the site (forgot to bookmark it) that showed the Massive influx of websites entering the web in only the last 2 years... everyone will need indexed and backlinks built to be able to compete with the older ones It was a arrow pointing almost straight up thx malcolm
An excellent point there. shahab6 I can confirm that submitting one of my other sites to directories has brought great results, getting me on first page and even first position for some keyword phrases, my first real accomplishment at getting good rankings for a site of mine.
I guess I should also point out that I always submit my sites to both paid and free directories and have had a lot of success in getting indexed quickly and getting traffic targeted to my keywords.
Hi shahab6, one of my sites (not a directory) has been doing well in serps and its promotion is 99% to directories.
If the search engines are smart enough to create an algo that can delvalue directory links without needing the help from humans (snitching) then surely they can create an algo that returns 100% relevant search results right? And this would also mean that they are smart enough to create an algo that would pass pr only from links are 100% relevant to each other right? The question is, how in the world would the search engines know if a website is a directory or not? There are 100's maybe even 1000's of sites out there that do not even look like a directory for example http://www.hcdonline.com/ and http://www.emailaddresses.com/ if it did'nt say it in the title tags you might not ever know you where looking at a directory. So will the search engines devalue those links as well? With that said I find it very unlikely that search engines have this kind of technology in play, even if they it would not be hard to get around.
Why would this be so to difficult? They could easily identify phpld directories? How much of the market would that account for? What sort of impact would that have? There has been no real damage done this time around but look at all the babble its resulted in and where are the buyers? Are we not forgetting the buyers? These are the people Google are really speaking to.
