Did the search engines devalue directories?

    It's not taking people out of the industry. This forum has just been over run with trolls which explains the lack of posting and activity.:cool:

    They think people support them and their constant accusations and comments and in the end
    they are no better then anyone here and only due to their jealousy and hatred for others. :(

    lets hope that they change thier ways....

    You're right this forum used to be more "alive" than what it is today.

    In my case I still visit the forum an read a few threads that look interesting, but I just don't have much time to read nonsense posts and useless comments or anything that has nothing to do with improving the directory business.

    I think that's why other member don't even bother visiting or posting at dp. Time is money and some of us don't have that luxury. I would think that these members spend their time working on their directories and improving their services to customers.

    Let's see in few months if things change for the better, if not I will not doubt that it is going to be worst.

    Exactly!

    Lets take workshop for example A and The_Pheonix(TP - toilet paper for short) as example B.

    All these two people do is sit on the forums allll day long throwing insults as posting bullsh*t talking about how what they say are 'Facts' hahaha duh!
    It's a no brainer why his initials are TP; to wipe the sh*t from his fingers that he types all day long

    Anywho... If they did had a directory worthwhile, (and us that do own directories worthwhile know this for a fact), they wouldn't have that much time to be posting on a forum all day long, but instead catering to submissions and their own real endeavors.

    It's about time the forums start re-voicing their views and beliefs, and when they read bullsh*t, they start calling people out on it and not worrying whether they get a red or green rep.

    Its also quite possible that the well run and organised directory networks are frantically dumping links. Did you buy your way up or were you using the free ones? Any of the bright lights posting in this thread by any chance?

    Bought links, paid links, jammy links? What don't you understand? Frantic in trying to hide the evidence before the bogeyman comes calling. Or is it just routine housekeeping that keeping you so busy?

    And that's precisely what I am doing. Since we are talking about penalties and serp's would you care to explain the example you are working so hard to set. What is the purpose behind the network of directories you are setting up? I assume you are employing directory masters to "review" the submissions you get and that you are building each and every one of them to provide the end user with a means of finding the sites which pay to list with you. But this is where I begin to lose it. Why so many? Are they all general directories? Do you accept anything that happens to come your way or do have standards and do you hold yourself to be accountable to your peers?

    Is it not possible, even likely that "some" directories are dropping links that might be considered risky?

    I agree with all the reputable posters above, for weeks most of the threads in this section have been fueled by a few jealous wanna-be's...I have been busy adding to my network of niche directory based portals and making cash...I really enjoy sharing thoughts in this forum with respectful, well-mannered business folks but I am getting a tired of hearing the same whining over-and-over again.

    September was one of the best months ever for one of my established directories and I see a bright future for those directory owners that are willing to work hard and use some creative juices. Personally I think all this 'bad press' might end up working in our favour if it pushes out some of the riff-raff.

    Wonder if you still have any honour.

    Have good code example for you:

    $count=$db->GetOne("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TROLL_TALKING WHERE TROLL = 'workshop');
    if ($count > 1000) {
      echo 'We have TROLL LEADER which name is workshop';
      echo '<br />';
      echo 'Don't waste time on his poor talking';
    }

    Code (markup):
    You can put this code in your mind.

    You guys need to learn to play the ball not the man..
    Loud and aggressive you might be but at the end of the day you are just another powder puff.
    It would be interesting to see which ones and whether there is any cross over.
