Did the PR update happen?

Was there a PR update? It's been a long time, and I really hope their hasn't, cause that means I'm still a PR3 and that's impossible, I've worked too hard. My links on Google updated from 15 to 16 though, does that mean the PR updated too? This is horrible, I worked so hard...

I suspect it is. Seems I started reading about it in late Sept.

Google seems to be more 'selective' in considering back links to site with every new PR update. Were the links from good, high quality, related and and PR sites?

Or were they all directory submissions etc?

Also, Google seems to be penalizing sites if they get lots of links from very high PR sites in a short period of time as they can be considered paid links.

The update happened for sure, but I guess you need to work on getting 'natural' links which cannot be filtered by Google.

PR is still updating to some datacenters according to Matt Cutts video. Yes there is an ongoing PR update and most probably your PR today in toolbar is your PR in the next few months.

I had done a lot of link exchanges, I thought that would have helped. However I did have A LOT of unrelated links so I cleaned house with all of them. I have come to realize the power of quality over quanity. I guess my mistakes really cost me, but now I'm doing good link purchases (slowly!) and it's going to pay off.

Unrelated links have been a waste of time for a long period with Google. Even related links that come too quickly get ignored. It really is a matter of quality links gained over time to get acceptable inbound links recognized by them. But the most annoying point is that they can't always recognise a quality inbound link.

Yes, that's excellent. But G takes away what G gives, so don't rest on that figure. Get more links, because they'll likely take some back next time!

G takes away what G gives? I don't get it. And I am still actively link building.

What I mean is that G will take links off your list of inbound links in future updates, for sure. Don't ask me why, but I guess they alter their algorithms all the time to further refine search results.

So your total number of inbound links goes down unless you work at adding new ones. It's like being on a treadmill.

you can place this code anywhere on any page and you'll have your google page ranking right there :) for you on your page
it also works in forums if you place it in your overall_footer or overall_header templete

    <a href="http://www.prchecker.info/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.prchecker.info/PR1_img.gif" alt="Check Page Ranking" border="0" /></a>
    Code (markup):
I don't think they've updated as of yet...pft google only shows I have one place linking to me and that is so not true....

Well, natural links for me are links that people give to you without link exchaning or link buying.

There could be something wrong with it, but I'm not going to use it on my site. PR3 is good, but it's not something to be proud of.
