I put ypn on the archive section of a large forum I have. Adsense does about $300/month on the same section so I wanted to give ypn a shot. I used the same format that I had been using as adsense. I was hoping because the CTR is very high on the archive section and the payout for ypn is much higher for me than adsense is. For the first couple of days there was no targeting at all except for credit cards and things related to bad debt. I turned off all the url targeting and didn't see much change. Every now and then when I would pull up that index all of the ads would be related but refresh one time and they were gone. So for 3 days I pulled in about $3.00. I just switched it back to adsense. Google targets every single page nicely but of course doesn't pay as much. BTW, this was done on a automotive site that gets a lot of traffic.
Oh okay, that's crazy, but yeah that is true because it happens to me sometimes, hard to control in the beta stage.
I ran out of Adsense for my myspace layout site because YPN is paying much much more per click. An it is odd you had a bad time....most webmasters using YPN love it... most webmasters in the UK are drooling wanting YPN to expand there. Anyway you missed part it seems of what Yahoo can do. Question: Is there an easy way to better target my ads to match the interests of my users? Answer: Yes. You can use the Ad Targeting tool to target ads based on your users' interests. Simply go to the Ad Targeting page under the Ad Setup tab and use the drop down menus to select from 20 categories and 109 subcategories. Then type your target URL into the dialog box and click Save. Once saved, you'll be able to manage categories for each of your targeted URLs. For more information on Ad Targeting, review our FAQs. (links removed from YPN) The second category is Automotive and you then can decide which URL would display those ads ( So your auto forum URL) Hope it helps.
thanks, I had already done the targeting. I actually did it over a period of a few days by adding new targets, etc. but there was no change. I still use YPN because it does make quite a bit of money for me but I was hoping to have a better output. I get a lot of clicks on google, if I was to get that many on ypn the revenue would be awesome. After the testing I did and seeing the number of relevant ads over a period of time, I now know what kind of sites to apply this to that I had never thought of.
Allpedal I did not say it worked lol. True if we got the number of clicks Google sends we would be even happier!! As always it takes testing and testing and even more testing.
