Would appreciate if someone could tell me if I caused by 2 Ecommerce Websites to drop in the rankings by putting one of them for sale on Ebay listing the domain with Google Rank and/or by cross linking my 2 sites or was this just a coincidence. For 2 weeks, 1 of my sites was ranked 2 with a keyword combo & the other site I had just launched was ranked 3. Within 1 day of me listing the site Ranked 2 for Sale on Ebay & putting that info in the heading & 1 day for the other site ranked 3, they both dropped several places. Is this a coincidence or did I screw up?
I doubt that putting your site on sale on eBay would lower its rankings. It's probably something else... - Hannes
I often watch ebay for good sites, but there are so many cookie cutter get rich template sites. Sure, there are the occassional deal on a decent sites, but usually I get "sniped" on them. I have also seen sites advertised for sale at rediculous prices 10 million, etc. I just figured people did this for the backlink or linkbait of some sort. Do you have any input HiFi on this? What PR was the page your site was listed on? How long was it listed on Ebay? Not that I can evaluate how this affected your ranking in the SE's, but I cant think it would have no affect? Good luck though, usually, things have a way of bouncing back!
The pr3 on a new site is speculated to be just a temporary boost google gives to new sites. It probably will not last. And you can lower your established pr site by linking it to your new site. As far as the Ebay listing..I vote no too...it should not effect your pr or positions
