So about a year ago I sold a music fansite with a nice custom design the following stats for $375. Average number of visits per day: 1716.00 Average hits per day: 97987.77 Unique visitors in Aug 2005: 28976 Number of visits in Aug 2005: 57796 Number if hits in Aug 2005: 3366146 These are the only stats I have from a saved email. Also if you searched for the artist my site was about it would be the 2nd result on yahoo and 5th of google. So did I sell my site for too low? I didn't put ads on my site so I dont know how much money I would have made.
From first glance you did but it looks like all your stats are from 2005 (a full year ago in fact). Is that when you sold it?
If a site was getting 20k+ unique visitors last year then you can calculate the current visitors. I think yes you sold it on very low price. BTW how much site was earning?
My site was a fan site for a music group. And yeah the stats are from a year ago. I had it saved from an old email I sent to a potential buyer. edit* I didnt put ads on the site so I didnt have any earnings. The new owner has put google on every page. So I guess hes making a lot of money now.
$375 may well be the best price that you can get for your site... intrinsic value is not equal to market value... so even if your site is actually worth more, would you be able to find a buyer that is willing to pay fair value for it?
I made the guy an offer and he took it. There were only 2 buyers that I talked to. Im guessing if I auctioned the site I could of I got more.
sebastya is right, not point dwelling on the past. Fan sites are not big earners on adsense, most of the keywords in that field go for very low prices. Nest advice is just to move on...
Why don't you make another site which is similar. Do the same sorts of things you did on the last one and then put ads on it. It's probably a niche you know, so it would probably be easier to duplicate the second time around. I think that's the only way to find out for sure.
what is the url of your site? without seeign your site, how can i put my advise properly, which is needed by you.
I would think that a sale can only happen with a willing buyer and a willing seller so if you were happy enough to sell your site for that price when you did, it is a good price. I would agree, there is no reason to worry about the past. What happens to the site now probably is so partly due to the work invested by the new owner.
