I have been visiting directories and I have noticed that that some well promoted directories have NO PR. Is there a thread about this? Or Maybe I'm not getting that information for now.
Hi It is possible for few reason: 1) it might be possible, because if they have "no follow" codes setup and they use "no follow codes by thinking that they don't want to share PR so they will get higher PR but SE cann't crawle all pages or crawler thinks site has very few pages so now site will not pass the PR. 2) robots and sitemaps are very important for PR and many directories owner don't know value of robots file and sitemaps. 3) directories can get lots of traffic from links but for PR it important to have links with value (not just links from junck sites or pages)
You sure missed the boat. There was another PR update 3 weeks back (28th Feb) and expect one more within next 3 weeks.
It really is simple, gooogle does not like sharing the pie. Just like it is much easier (and cheaper) to save energy than produce it, it is much easier and cheaper for gooogle to take away the competition for webmasters dollars than to convice webmasters to use adwords.
There's loads of them, try doing a search as I can't remember the exact threads there are so many of them.
I was asking about you mywebsearches, i was saying "wheres mywebsearches, hes going to miss the show" Theres no threads about this, they all magically disappeared, the truth is hidden.
Google isn't sleeping you know...some got slapped fo' good...and some got PR7 again... ups and downs...fu*k the PageRank! We would have to develop our own method of ranking directories... VR,BR,DR (pour les connaisseurs) and some other concepts in here are highly supported to improve their algorithms...
I think if you try and push your own ranking system as something great that they will specifically target you, it will still p**s them off i believe. They will keep on squeezing you know, need to be careful with these alternatives incase they take it the wrong way.
So? some of us got pis*ed every day because of them. Some in here have nothing to lose because they already have no SERPs and PageRank 0. Those will probably agree with me
Many lost PR because they are selling paid-text-links. I'm not talking about the fee they charge for reviewing, but having things like Sponsors links in sitewide on their directory, and do-following those links, is against Googles guidelines. It doesn't matter whether your site is a directory, blog, forum, business site, whatever, if you have those links eventually Google will penalise you for them. A blog that I have found very interesting in all this is Andy Beard's. He talks about his blog getting hit, then recovering, then getting hit again despite doing everything he could to appease Google. It's like he went out of his way to censor his site, and tailor it to Google's latest whim - and that wasn't enough. Pretty soon after he posted the PR was returned again, but it's almost like they are going round in circles to see who is awake. We hit that guy last time, let's knock his PR on the head again and see if he notices. If not then he probably doesnt care about either PR or his website rankings.
This thread is becoming really funny!!!! I will do as like with my sites whether google (or any other search engine) likes it or not. I will do the same thing that I consider good for my sites today, tomorrow, and to the end of the internet. I strongly believe that success is dependent on you than someone else. I also believe that Google for the most part will not notice you're site unless you're a threat to their success. To say that Google is targeting directories is not 100% true because there are many other types of sites that are getting penalized. However, it is true that many directories advertised here at DP have been penalized by Google. There are many other directories that many of us have not heard of are doing business as usual.
