    Greetings folks!

I have a site that was earning about 6-7$ /day from around 70click /day with a 1.5-2% CTR, now, I have over 120 clicks /day and a ctr of about 3% (better ad placement) but I have noticed a drop in my eCPM value, used to be between 1-2$ for the past 3 days it has been under 60c... why is this happening? and what can I do to improve?

I have seen this happen as well. My theory is that there’re at least two variables involved here: what your visitors read on a given day and bidding price fluctuations.

Say, you have been getting a steady stream of traffic for an article A. Then, you have started getting more visitors that read article B. There’s probably a price difference between ads displayed for article A and B.

These kinds of fluctuations seem to be normal. Assuming the traffic and page views remain more or less the same, it seems that over a statistically significant period, the average pay out is consistent.

However, certain keywords may become more or less competitive, which would be reflected in PPC that you are getting.

So, its like the stockmarket, but with keywords instead of shares, at any given time, the price for content may rise or drop depending on demand...

I hope it evens out, today was an all time low...

You got it. Keep this in mind, though. The price of Microsoft’s or Google’s shares fluctuates up and down every second. On some days and sometimes longer, it goes down. But unless something dramatic happens, and they drop the ball big time, Microsoft will be Microsoft and Google will be Google. You know what I mean?

In other word, quality keywords will be quality keywords. They may jump around in price here and there, but given sufficient traffic and quality content, they will continue to perform nicely.

The same cannot be said for the cheap keywords. I don’t see how something that pays today $0.05 per click, will ever start paying $0.95 per click. Well, I suppose there might be some exceptions, say if some keywords in a certain area suddenly become very competitive due to some invention or a scientific discovery, but that is a lottery.

mikeboy, you didn't mention what kind of time frame was involved there, or what your channel data indicated, so it's not possible to make a guess as to where the problem is.
