Did I do well in 3 months?

I launched this site http://www.webcosmo.com on February 14, 2007. Since the beginning I tried to learn from folks in this forum and others, and implemented it.
So far what I got are:
average 100-200 visitors/day.
google PR 3
alexa rank 329393
daily posts of 15 average
about 1000+ people subscribed to the mailing list.

do you think I did ok?
My website is competing with big players like craigslist, yahoo etc.
What can I do to take it to the next level. Appreciate any suggestions.

I think you are doing well! But what about profits? I'm sure that you are running web-site not for just visitors, but for getting profits... And what is your conversion? (I don’t want to know, but I think that is the most important thing you should pay attention to).

That is the answer to your question: one thing you can always do is to work to improve your conversion.

I had a web-site with 200+ visitors and it was converting in about 200$/month, not bad, but not good. I decided to try more products and options to improve my conversion and average cart cost, now this web-sites makes my about 600$/month and growing fast. I know what products are easier to sell and this gave me an idea about keywords, niches, etc.

So, I’d better think in terms of “revenue” rather than “traffic”.

For 3 months that's quite well indeed.

But I'm just curious, by 3 months you mean you never had experience with online marketing prior to that...? If so, then that's really really good!

I never had experience on marketing. Learned from forums and online search whatever I have.
What I did is simple rules, I like to share, may help somebody:
- created myspace, bloglines account, posted some thread there.
- link exchange using linkexchanged.com software. I didnt care about related sites, which is suggested, I added every site I could find.
- Posted some ad on craigslist.org
- I was active on popular forums like this one, v7n.com etc

I intend to keep this service free. I dont make any money out of it. But in future I plan create other sites which would be highlighted from this site.

 

conversion rate is about 7%. Meaning 7 out of 100 people post an ad. You think thats a good rate?

Make a step-by-step report of what you did and share it with other newbies who are struggling to get even around 50 visitors a day .

i think your stats are good as a beginner . have you tried to get hits from social bookmar sites?
