or the wrong ones... 1) to have a central place to browse forums. ...since I have steadily been joining and posting at several forums. (maybe about 10 these days, included two of my own) 2) Do it in an interesting, unique way with visuals (100x45 logo) instead of the traditional directories we see all the time. I really had no idea about backlinks and SEO until recently, and how directories are primarily used for those purposes.
It sounds like you have the right reasons in mind. Only you know for sure... or was there a different type of question you were wanting to ask? What are the best uses for forums? Not an expert on forums myself, but it all starts with the question.
I have seen a couple of forum directories before but using a logo would also be good. There are mods for including screenshots. (all the best).
herm... just develop what you want.. don't look another directory, build as you like to see... make your hobby..
You created your directory for the right reason, 99% of those concerned with backlinks and SEO do it for other reasons. I have a couple of blogger hosted blogs to keep in touch with family and colleagues, an ideal use of self-hosted blogs I'd think.
The internet is clogged with Web sites which look like clones of each other much like bumper to bumper rush hour traffic. We need more adventurous souls willing to travel a slightly different path. I hope your project is a success as defined by you and no one else. IMHO success is not always defined as $$$.
thats a major reason why I wanted it this way. directories all look the same. I worry though that this might a deterrent for people to submit. I only have about 1-3 per day in the past week
