Did google penalize me?

Until the update made last-nightish(?) I was #1 for what I thought was a very, very non-competitve term: refrozen... now my accounts on various sites are near the top, however, my site is no where to be seen. Granted, the other sites are MUCH more "freezing" related (other than the ones that are like my account here, or php-community.org)

Where did I go? Did Gewg penialize me? I'm still INDEXED (site:) but, it appears I got penalized.

Why does everyone think they must be banned or something if they don't get #1?

If you were previously at number one, or in the top ten, then you're not to be found in the top 100, what would you think? He did not say he should be number one, just that he was, now he's not even close. That's a big difference. I could undstand your point if he was complaining about dropping five points. But this last update has really put the fear of Google in a lot of website owners and developers.

Google is doing something odd. I've dropped, sometimes 1 spot, sometimes 5 spots for what i used to be ranked #1 or #2. I believe this to be temporary as it has happened before and didn't last long.
