how easy is it for somebody to visit a proxy site, make a new id a digitalpoint and then spend 200 dollors on buying links?

i just trolled the link sales and for 200 dollors i could buy 2000+ blog network posts, the urls for gone bad .gov domains and a list of easy access .edu domains

so for 200 dollors and about 3-4 hours of trolling i could essentially wipe out my competitor, since i only have 2 competitors it would cost my 400 dollors but i would make that back in a week or 2 in adsense. tell me please how can google allow this to happen? it should only be a penalty of "linkvalue=0" instead of "linkvalue=-index&-50"

if it ever comes to it this will be the ONLY approch left for webmasters. it is a desperate situation

Unfortunately, it DOES happen. Whether people try to take out their competitors or just be downright mean, some people have problems and can't play fair - not just in the offline world, but they know how to be cruel in the online world too.

has anyone got a site we can kill off with bad links as a test? if they have and they dont mind we should pm everyone of the link sellers and show them this thread and ask them for a favour and auto submit our test site to all their networks and see if anything happens. good idea or not?

There is nothing to expand. Google's algorithm depends linking, it is all about linking, otherwise G wouldn't exist.

You buy links, you sell links and you tell dumb G that it is not you but your competitors. It works just fine :)

Google's and Matt Cutts silence on this issue speaks volumes.

Guys... all i'm saying is that Google 'Matt Cutts' always avoids answering the questions about your competitor being able to get you penalized and when Google does give an answer...it usually gives you a run around and says its hard to do and nobody would really do it !!!!

After all the guidelines they make us follow and put fear in us...they can't even do the work from their side !!

I mean I read like crazy after I got the -50 penalty.....I just couldn;t figure it out, since I never thought a one-way incoming link could get me penalized....anybody can get it for me.

So I read many posts on Matt Cutts blog also and he always avoids the question about your competitor being able to get you penalized. I found the following link on his blog, in one of the threads:

Getting your competitor penalized service: http://seoblackhat.com/2005/09/01/google-bowling-seo-black-hats-for-hire/

And that page is a PR3 by google ... probably ranks higher than my site also...what a joke

This should be a number one priority for google to fix and reassure us that it is fixed.

I know my site has been damaged by offsite actions.

This is not guaranteed to work. Also keep in mind that in some rare cases it may work quite the opposite getting your competitor an even higher ranking. If you want to do it then do it yourself instead of wasting $100's.
SERP's keep changing and there will almost always be competitors above you, so paying $100's to get each competitor penalized (not guaranteed!) won't be practical.

And also, if they have that much skill, why don't they bowl google SERP's for some "cashy" keyword like "web hosting", get their site to #1 and start making easy $1000's a day instead of selling that sh*t.

Holy shizzle, TFU - google has to have known about those guys for 2 years and yet they still penalize without remorse. that suck for anyone who has bought links. thankfully i was a major newbie when i made my first sites and done everything the long, hard way. no spam. but it still sucks that this can happen, but instead of using blackhatseo you could get it cheaper in the BST here. lol

Im sure some people do a little bit of black hat seo aimed at their competitors everyday along with their own seo on their own sites, people don't need to spend money to try to use google's algorithm in this way

I have one that I mentioned earlier on in this thread..
I have it in analytics and webmaster tools along with a couple of other sites I have.. so I will have to take out my script and verification tags.
it is PR4 and it doesn't have many backlinks but they are strong and very relevant. so it wouldn't take many non relevant links to tip the odds.. I can post a screen grab of the top search queries for the last few months. and also show that it is my site... just so you know I am not trying to kill of a competitor.

My modem or cable connection keeps dropping out.. a tech is coming on Saturday morning to fix it so if I can't get back on line to post, that will be the reason why..

If you are still interested please reply or PM me to tell me the best way to reveal the domain name without exposing it to this thread...

    Cheers
    James

Ok, here is a list of possible candidates, I am sure that a PM with reference to this thread and some kind words and pretty much all of these webmasters will gladly help out. with these threads alone there is a possibility to create over 10,000 links within a 24 hour period. see what that does to your serps.

Google seem to think that "most people would not do this" but if your niche was earning you $100 per closure and you were in 5th place. 5th place = about 10% max of your possible traffic, since most people find what they want in the first result, if not then in the second and so on down the chain. supposed you had 4 people to bowl out of the index, how much extra cash would you be earning if you were receiving 80% of the traffic you currently receive?

THIS IS JUST A TEST CASE AND NOT A ACTUAL ATTEMPT TO BOWL SOMEBODY'S COMPETITOR

    $5 = 420 links
    $30 = 2000 links
    $15 = 450 links
    $25 = 1200 links
    $12 = 1600 links
    $2 = 75 links
    $9 = 1350 links
    $17 = 630 links
    $8 = 660 links
    $23 = 417 links
    $5 = 56 links
    $6 = 840 links
    $4 = 45 links
    $18 = 432 links
    $47 = 910 links
    $4 = 93 links
    $10 = 56 links
    $35 = 120 links
    $15 = 900 links
    $20 = 1350 links

    total $316 = 13604 links

13604 links in 24 hours has got to look like spam.

out of interest could anybody post if "hypothetically" they would benefit from doing this is their current niche. its not saying that you WOULD but if you were sinister would you profit from this.

Isn't Googles motto "don't be evil?" or something related.
I bet they tried to patent Evil but were beaten by the Devil!
