Following up on the press release thread started by Pete in this forum, I would like to ask if any directory owner out there took their directory serious enough and trademarked or registered its name? I want to put online BBB reliability logo on some of our directories, and I was wondering if its worth the effort?
Yes we did but to go into here will only invite the trolls, but PM us and we will provide the information As for BBB we have looked at this many times and it always has looked like very very creditable and will be a benefit (in our opinion) to online trading
I have all of the bylaws written and everything else is pretty much in play, just trying to decide if I should incorporate index-it.net as it's own company or have it as a subsidiary. The guys at bbb call every know and then to see if I am ready to sign up yet, as oma already qualifys for a listing. I got a few more kinks that need to be worked out before I give the go ahead. One thing is for sure, this is not something that you want to rush into, it takes study and good a lawyer to make sure that everything goes as planned.
I have not gone down that road yet; all of my sites are registered under one business name. Thanks Brian
I have had a legitimate corporation long before a directory and have registered trademarks long before this thread ever came into being.
This is being a coincidental posting I believe? I am challenging britishguy to providing evidence that he is registering his 'legitmate' International group of companies but am finding no evidence of this in any companies houses on the planet or for expanding on this I am not finding any trademarking either. Why is it being people are claiming to be something they do not appear to be able to support with hard fact? Thanking you.
Yes some good questions, all i can say is you will be one busy boy on the WWW i have stopped being amazed at the amount of bull**** i see and read on the web, it is a dark faceless place, where all that glitters is not gold. the waters swim thick with sharks. back on topic yes we are a registered company.
i am intending to register a LLC very soon in a month or so. Just getting everything together. Never tried bbb
Other than fishing do you have any other purpose on this forum? , do you own or intend to own a directory?
Like I said before we have legally registered companies, but I can find no where in this Forum where it says we have to release all our company information on this forum via posts for it to be subjected to abuse and troll rhetoric All our information at any time of going live is accurate, but of of course any historical data may/or may not be subject to editing or updating Thanks
My purpose is to be being thorough to my adventures into the directory world. I am wanting to be setting my own directory when I am to believe I can do this. Fishing is to enable me to find who to trust and who not to be trusting, a good business must always be one to be trusting and I am finding many not to be this way. My goal is to learn from experts who will share and fools who will be making mistakes for people like me to be avoiding.
Good stuff, Wishing you well with you future directory, Some vey good information and very well respected people here. It can be a little heated from time to time but in general no real harm. As for the fishing it is mostly gummy sharks here, if you want white pointers you need to venture into deeper waters. Post some info / links to your Dir when you can.
What is a troll? A person who is to be bold to stand to seek the truth behind what is not always to be that way it seems? Why would your information be subjected to abuse? I am not wanting to be getting into game of tennis where ball is passed back each time. If your 'comapny' details are being correct at time why are you not being able to provide registered numbers for your international companies? Are you to be claiming that electoral registries and companies houses are to be edited? I am hitting on a gold mine of story maybe? I will be helping you for company information. You are to be providing this on your website but did not be doing this which is posing questions to me. The 'company information' you did provide was not being wholly correct if I am being truthful. If I am somehow to be wrong I will be begging you to excuse me and will be waiting to be corrected.
Unless you have a network of directories pulling in a large amount of $$$, then a corporation is not needed. If you want the personal protection a corporation provides, a LLC might be a better option. Is a corporation or LLC really required for BBB? I thought you had to be a registered business in your state (ie. Joe Blow DBA Business Name). That costs like $30 where I live and you can still be a sole proprietor and not have to turn in corporate taxes on top of personal taxes. Contact your State and register your business name with them. It's cheap and should give you the documents you need to provide BBB.
For BBB, i think so yes. But as for registering fees. I paid over $300 to register my LLC in the state of Washington and in the city of Vancouver. Although it is around $50 to register in Oregon (which is a 10 minute drive from me). I just thought of putting a BBB logo on some of our directories to add some sort of credibility.
You have done and know what it is to put up a business. I don't know what is happening to some directory owners and their too much Press Releases. Too much drugs and alcohol combined. Tony Montana sniffed too much.
