Just got an email from one of the people who work at Chitika.com, pointing me to a problogger post about optimizing Chitika on forums. I thought it was a very sweet, and nice gesture!

I got the same e-mail-- it referenced the fact I have a high number of impressions and low clickthru--- Which is pretty normal for a webcomic -- people are busy reading the strips.

That's the email I received today:

    Amit,

Just a quick note: Noticed that you have a significant number of impressions and wanted to run this fantastic blog post from ProBlogger on how to increase clickthrough rate (CTR) and maximize your revenue on eMiniMalls.

    http://www.problogger.net/archives/2005/11/17/chitika-eminimalls-how-to-increase-ctr'

Rest assured that we too are optimizing things at our end. Do tell if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,
    Michelle

We got the same email. We sent one back asking them "How do you fix a broken heart?" Still in total shellshock over the crashing of our numbers.

    I got an email too...

However, I am at a loss why they offer us a blogger site to read about optimising their ads while promoting a publisher particular site. Chitika should offer all that info on their site?

Also, Chitika posts do not offer answer just statement?!

    I want to know

    1. What does "curiousity click" really mean? (Culling visit from the same IP within a 24 hour period and/or non USA visitors?

    2. What date do they start auditing for each month?

    3. They claim they had down time for two day last month - OK - when are they going to adjust? During audit? How much?

Too many unanswered question which I have put to them... however, I do wish they would offer "help" pages to address these issues.

    OK - finished my rant...

They don't do any filtering on clicks. They simply adjusted the way ads are displayed to limit the way people can click on ads.

This is explained on their OWN blog.

EXACTLY!!!!!! Nothing's changed but the look of the blog. I don't get why everyone is in such a fuss to go "Hey look it's Chitika, I think I'll go step on it."

The *only* change has been that the entire ad isn't a link anymore, just the price/and/or description dependant on the ad.
