“Dictionary.com’s success is built on its unique, descriptive domain name and simple, straightforward interface,†explained Bruce D. Smith, Chief Strategic Officer of Answers.com. The sale involves three built out domain names, Dictionary.com, Reference.com, and Thesaurus.com. These properties attracted 11.5 million unique monthly users in the U.S. during the month of June 2007 according to comScore. They generated revenues of $7 million, EBITDA of $2.9 million and net income of $2.8 million in 2006. Buying these three domains is a huge victory for Answers.com..." http://blog.domaintools.com/
Nice to know that people really do buy domains and develop them and not take the lazy option of parking them.
business.com is sold for 7 million and wine.com is for 3.4 million, its very hard to day that can be sold for the prices. best of luck !!
Poker.com for $7 mill., recently. Here are a few from this month: Poker.de €695,000 = $957,937 NICIT/DOMAINfest 2. CarSales.com $400,000 Moniker/ T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 3. Bulk.com $100,000 Moniker/ T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 4. Lick.com $60,000 Moniker/ T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 5. tie Males.com $55,000 Moniker/ T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
The domains aren't worth $100 million. What pushed the value up was the business itself. 35x earnings is a good price IMHO.
