deviantART vs Behance network

I was wondering what views people have on these two different sites that promote digital art and other types of art as well :D

DeviantART http://www.deviantart.com/ is older and has a bigger community but half of the works on there just can't be considered as art. (browse and you will see that this is no exageration)

on the other hand, the Behance network http://www.behance.net is quite new but requires you to make some sort of statement about your artistic skills before you can join  if I remember well. And they also have a very serious Job Section.

If there is any art/graphic/multimedia site you would like to discuss of, feel free to :)

Well, you can't really compare them because DeviantArt is a lot more for the people to download artwork, especially things such as wallpapers. There are plugins, mods and all extra stuff for customization. The only thing they sell is subscriptions and illustrations and they also have the contests.

This site Behance is more towards professional and to show their work and promote their sites with artwork etc.

Deviantart is quite diverse.. and remember they don't only have art but design and photography as well...

Of course there is meaningless stuff uploaded there...

I would have to go with Deviantart for the fact that it is quite popular (which means better exposure for work) than Behance.

Behance's job sections seems a little... aggregated from other job portals.

On DA, there's some people who may get trusted for their work, and there are some artists who are even not representing themselves on any network -- the hunt for talents is a prime reason for me to chat on some gaming channels. Until any job site will deliver me such a talents, I'll keep speaking that 'your site has no reason to offer a good job, and your site has no one who can match the job perfectly -- why do you trying to push a sphere into square hole?'

Also, why not to compare the whole thing with any stock photo site?

You might also want to check out http://www.imagekind.com/
Not sure about the community aspect but they do quality prints with lots of options for things like paper types and framing.

I miss the old DeviantArt; it used to be a place where graphic designers could really showcase their work. Nowadays, 90% of new content is horrible furry drawings and Japanese cartoons. That's not to say it's not a good place to start setting up shop though.

DA is a pretty good environment for aspiring designers or artists. It exposes one to diversity and encourages involvement. Not everyone can sprout superb artwork when they start but a community that fosters critique can help in the improvement.

I am a member of deviantART for 2 years now and its a great experience altogether with the whole community. Its much like flickr and is open for everybody. Due to this reason, these days a lot of stuff lacking professionalism can be seen at DA unlike behance where its easier to find quality stuff.

Everyone seems to bash deviant art for it's 'low quality anime wannabes' etc, but that's quite sad, because that's it's reputation.
Deviant is full of wonderful artists, and webdesigners alike, but nobody actually tries to find them. I've sold several designs through deviant art alone.

Behance on the other hand, I haven't had any contact with any other members yet.
I just enjoy browsing the popular galleries.

If your stuffs astoundingly good already, hit up behance,
If you're starting and want critiques, hit up deviant.
