Hi, I have few domains which are very good. But I am confused what and how to get this developed. Generally what and how do you make the best out of your domains? What are other things apart from blog and forums? Thanks, Puneetha
It really depends upon the domain name. For example, if I had the domain kittentreats.com then I would make an online shop selling such treats (even if it was an affiliate [such as Amazon] shop or similar). But maybe other people would have a different idea. Do some brain storming - come up with a list of things you associate with the domain name and then write up the pros and cons of each idea. Good luck with whatever you do.
I once owned two job search related domain names. They were nice, two-word domain names. I bought them almost simultaneously. However, the one that had "job" and "hunt" in it took off and gained a significant organic traffic in a really short period of time. I eventually sold it (which I kind of regretted later). So, I know how important the right domain name can be for gaining organic traffic. Having said this, however, I want you to also be aware that Google is making updates to their algorithm and, from what I watched online, the domain names are going to play a lesser role in Google's search rankings. This is a must watch video if you are into SEO: http://moz.com/blog/why-you-might-be-losing-rankings-to-pages-with-fewer-links-worse-targeting-and-poor-content?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed: seomoz (SEOmoz Daily Blog) The stuff above is so different from what some of the SEO experts keep insisting on.
Domains are: AppTalking.com HTMLMagic.com PageTown.com THEINDIANLAW.COM PHONEWARRIORS.COM AJAXDEVELOPERS.COM 247REPLY.COM
Ok, literally of the top of my head ... AppTalking.com - App review site with an emphisis on end user reviews / discussion and even user-to-user support forum / site ... even look at adding text chat HTMLMagic.com - get a simple 'HTML Tidy' script that let's people 'magically validate and format' their HTML ... can be expanded to include lots of HTML / CSS tools ... maybe even focus on HTML -> HTML5 'magic conversion' PageTown.com - buddy press install for a 'community' site THEINDIANLAW.COM - indian country or native american ... could be a law news aggrigrator for india the country ... or, I think it's a catchy name for something like a history of native american culture right up and including current reservation law / legal issues (good end user sale potential imho) PHONEWARRIORS.COM - brandable name for an android / iphone game (i'm thinking a fighter obviously but would also be a fantasy rpg) ... and/or along those lines a android / iphone game review site AJAXDEVELOPERS.COM - like the world needs another AJAX news site, but maybe a community site again, peer help, job board etc etc 247REPLY.COM - help desk software or service company
Apptalking.com - Like make a website for android apps because its the number one mobile app website currently. HTMLmagic.com - make a w3schools like website or sell HTML templates there. Pagetown.com - Offer free article directory like squidoo Theindianlaw - I don't know because Indians are not following the LAW so its useless lol Phonewarriors.com - GSMarena.com like website atleast 50%. Ajaxdevelopers.com - the name will tell you all. 247reply.com - Let this be your company customer support website.
NameNetwork, although I totally agree with your suggestions, the problem is NONE of them are going to work. Why? There's nothing unique about any of them. Take AppTalking.com. It will have to fight a dozen of similar websites that have been online since 2002 and have $100000's in their budget to keep promoting them. Or... why would I need to go to HTMLMagic.com for HTML Tidy when I can go to a dozen of HTML Tidy sites right now? Etc., etc. Today, it's all about a site's uniqueness and, well, MONEY. If you're not unique and have no cash to spend on advertising, there's no way you can beat 300 other websites that promote the same stuff. I am not trying to sound discouraging, I am just being realistic. Again, I may sound like a broken record, but if you watch this video you will see how advertising is different today compared to a few years ago: http://moz.com/blog/why-you-might-b...utm_campaign=Feed:+seomoz+(SEOmoz+Daily+Blog) Trust me, I spend a lot of cash to make cash. This is the reality of the today's world.
I don't disagree one little bit QwikAd ... The foundations aren't unique, nor were they anything more then Top Of The Head ideas, but even a similar offering can be differentiated buy targeting a specific demographic and deeply providing to that niche's needs, or buy taking 2 or more common solutions and combining them with a twist, or by looking into the existing market leaders in any field and leaning where the gaps in their offering are. For a long long time 'there's been no new ideas' (Ecclesiastes 1:9) and yet there's lots of evidence of people starting new businesses, coming late into an industry, and 'disrupting' established ways of working and becoming fantastically successful (gigwalk.com off the top of my head). It takes a million bad ideas to come up with the one great one, Netider I hope your just one less away from your great idea.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 is a philosophical conclusion. It is not discussing technological changes or achievements. You should leave the church if your pastor there does not know the difference and teaches his congregation those types of things. There were NO computers in the times of Solomon. But affiliate marketing has existed forever. Even Solomon knew that if you open a little mom-and-pop store next to a WalMart you're not going to succeed.
I wouldn't make a site just based on the domain, you must have an interest and passion in the subject in order to create quality content and a site people will want to visit, otherwise it'll be a waste of your time Maybe look to sell some of them? If some of the domains relate to subjects you do have an interest in, then I say go for it and develop a site but probably best to do one at a time
