is there a way of knowing how much traffic does a particular site get?I mean we enter the site's url and we know how much is the daily traffic for it?

I don't know of way to specific traffic details of a site, but you can use alexa to get a rough idea of their traffic.

Not really, that's why google analytics and many other stat scipts exist.
Although, using Alexa.com MIGHT provide some information. I say this because alexa can be tricked and it's not the best tool for this, but the only option for now.

    Hope that helps ^^

There's no tool for that. You need to install codes in their website and wait for atleast a day to get the daily traffic.

Sanma has a point. Alexa, even if it is not accurate, it may give you a pretty good idea about it. I suggest you do this: get a few sites (some of your own and some other that report their traffic, as in a public traffic top or something) and compare them in Alexa. This will give you an idea of the aprox. values. Then take the site you want to test and compare it with those you already know in Alexa.com and you will make a pretty good idea f how it works.

Anything can be tricked, Alexa, Technorati, Compete, etc... none of them are really accurate but you can always check their ads... for example, if they have adtoll or projectwonderful or any of those ads on their page, you can check how their stats are through that as well...

I mostly use Compete.com or Alexa.com when I'm looking to see how well one of my competitors is doing compared to my website.
