Determine server location

What's the most reliable way of locating the servers one's sites are on?

To what degree can we rely on that info and is there a chance of them being relocated and a webmaster not knowing?

    Thank you for any help!

Well, you can try http://whois.sc to lookup the domain, which shows location.
When moving a site between servers and locations, they would need access to the domain registrar to change the nameserver/ips

    No problem.

That's a good question. I have seen a delay on whois.sc at times.
But what you can do is match up that information and ip address with other sites. www.internic.ca tends to update pretty quickly.
Also you can do a check on DNS Report
