What are the best ways to determine a keywords traffic & saturation?

I was using microsoft's adcenter tool to check the keywords traffic level, but I don't know how accurate this tool is.
For saturation, I just look at the # of results google comes up with.

    Please share you favorite methods.

The Google Adwords tool is a very good solution for this. Give it a try, they have a complete set of guidelines on how to use and track results.
