Hi, I want to use direct linking in an ad for testing. However my affiliate URL given to me is in an encrypted long form: http://c51673d1344teyffgemmi72qar.hop.clickbank.net and no way to tell what the merchant URL is. Is this the form I should use and Google can figure out the merchant URL or there is a short form for AdWords to recognize?
best off not direct linking - much better to create a landing page on a url you own - if you direct link the odds of you getting a good QS and therefore any relevant data are very low
If you want to see exat URL get a 'Live Headers' plugin for FireFox. You Will see all redirections and URLs used but for Google you can use this URL, just in Display URL you need to use your final destination page as Google bot will go through redirects. That is how all tracking software programs works, and it is 100% legal.
that would be your destination url - please read up a little more on ppc before launching a campaign - you'll just be throwing money away without a strategy
There's no problem direct linking, although you'd have other issues considering the type of product that is. > and no way to tell what the merchant URL is. I clicked on it and I saw the URL in my browser. The display domain name must be the same as the final destination's URL. Therefore in your case, the display URL must be www.p****advantage.com
Hi, Thanks for the response. The reason I want to test out direct linking is to validate my suspision that Google doesn't like the product my campaign promoting - male enlargement program. I think Lucid Web Marketing shares the same thought. Personally I'm not particularly in favor of this one vs. others. However I don't see anything wrong to the point for Google to act against it like that especially they can just ban it openly. I actually would be very amused if that is the case. They do allow other advertizers to display for the same type of products. I'm ready to move on to the next product. But I'm eager to find out the reason. It could be the URL masking, it could be the product or the keywords. I did try out the keywords the Optimizator recommanded and they go up to $1.00 less than 3 hours. Using direct linking will help me determining the cause.
If that's the case then go for it - although you may find it's actually a combination of the product / niche and the url masking - in which case that'll be difficult to determine...
Hi, I switched to direct linking for 5 AdGroups. Quality Scores go up and prices go down for many keywords. No one seems to be sure if URL masking makes Google unhappy. One possibility is the keywords I attached to the domain of the masking URL which is administrated by GoDaddy.com. My next move is to switch more AdGroups to direct linking and replaced by a landing page. If I don't turn this campaign around, at least I learn a lot from it.
This question comes up frequently. The easy answer is that the display URL is the FINAL URL where the user lands, no URL in-between (i.e. redirects like clickbank, ad-server, tracking-server etc.).
Just click on the URL & you should land on the landing page for vendor... that is your display url... & the URl mentioned by you is the destination URL have not promoted CB products recently but guess the URL has been changed to include encryption
What about, i you are promoting an UK offer, but Google's bot is from USA and therefore it gets redirected (offer is not available in USA)? From bot's point of view visible URL and destination URL are different locations and your ad gets disapproved! Is there any solution for this scenario?
