Hi all, I am trying to add tracking parameters to a Yahoo!Search marketing campaign. In google it is easy - you add your parameters to the destination URL e.g. www.google.co.uk?variable1=value1&variable2=value2 This is hidden from the client as there is a separate display URL. Is it possible to acheive the same thing with Yahoo. This only allows you to enter one URL value. I can see there is an option to turn "tracking URLs" on but can't see how this allows me to add my parameters to the end of the URL... Thanks for any help you can offer!
Hi, Turning on tracking URLs causes Yahoo to add their own set of variables to your URL (such as "search term used," etc.). You don't need to use tracking URLs to add your own variables, but some of the information that is given by them may prove useful. If you want to add your own variables, I think you'd just have to add them to your "destination URL," same as with Google. If you're using Yahoo's tracking URLs in addition to this, remember that they have a special naming convention; so make sure that your code/analytics can still parse the URL properly. Also, if you're using both, be careful of the final length of the query string. I don't think there'd be a problem with this, but I haven't verified it myself recently. I hope this helps, Michael
Thanks for your reply Michael, So I'll just ignore the "tracking URLs" for now as I don't care about that. But I can only see one place to add a URL - if I add my tracking parameters to that section wouldn't it display with my advert....?
