    Carl,

if you want to keep flash then you must work more on the backlinks. I don't know the keywords you are targeting and how competitive they are. The more competitive the more links you need. If you submit articles and press releases frequently for example then you not only get backlinks but also traffic from these articles to your site.

You could also help your site rankings maybe by adding some more text beside the flash. Add some food for the search engines.

However, this is all about getting 'free' traffic from search engines. Don't forget that there are many more ways to get traffic than relying on search engines alone.

You can get plenty of traffic quickly if you are willing to pay for it, like with PPC (Google Adwords, Yahoo, MSN etc.), banner ads, ezine ads, joint ventures etc.

Dan - Anymore further to ourdiscussion yesterday, as very interested.

Gunter - We are trying to get our business found locally for valeting, wheel refubs and car audio installs, however need it found nationally for the web shop selling the car parts, as we feel there is a good market to show our range of products to, its just a case of getting our site found.

You can post your project needs at freelance websites like project4hire.com and receive bids from freelance web designers. You can also try to the DP marketplace.

Why couldn't he move the flash to the left or right and add content (SEO friendly) to the site? Perhaps a couple of well planned articles that get the keywords in there. He wouldn't benefit from the anchor text of the links inside the flash but he could rename any subpages to keyword.htm(l) so he'd at least get some SEO benefit. Trying to redesign the site would be a huge job as others have said. In the weeks range. It would be a total redo if you can't get the benefit of some text on that main page. At least the SE would see something.

I also don't see a whole lot of backlinks for your site. That's a problem. You need to follow the advice of others here, with blogs, articles or something to get some extra traffic and SE useable content aimed at your site.

I moved away from flash a few years ago because of all the added complexities. Looks nice but it's a pain.

Fix the flash and hire one of these guys to do the work for you. There's a reason they are on here every day. You'll get your money's worth.

Before you go to any major trouble/expense, make sure the original developer gave you the flash files you'll need to edit anything (if necessary). They sometimes hang onto them for job security.

Backlinks are links coming back to your site from other sites, whether they're related (preferred) or not.

I have created around 6 or 7 backlinks so far, all related to what i do in one way or another. It is slow hard work trying to get them, especially as i have no real net knowledge or that, i simply email sits which i think would be helpful to have link with.

As others have said, you need content.

With a flash site, visitors might be impressed, but google & the other search engines won't see anything at all. Content (ie useful text) is critical.

You do meta-tags (eg title) which is great, although after a quick glance, it looks like your title is spam full of keywords. What'd be better is to change it into a meaningful "title" that contains a small set of keywords that match the content that's on the page. To cover all the keywords you'd like, you'll need more pages (that contain text).

If you're going after a local market, be sure to add your site to google and yahoo local, the map sites, etc. Also include local references on your pages (& in your meta-tags). If you're not going for a local market, at least add a page or two that focuses on your local market. That will give you an advantage at least in the area you are in.

Something else you'll definitely want to do is add tracking to see where your visitors are coming from. It could be all your visitors are coming from a handful of those backlinked sites. It also could be that everyone that actually buys something comes from a different set of sites. Google Analytics is a free tool that you can add to your site.

OK, now you're probably not happy you sunk money into a flash site that people aren't visiting and replies point to a new site.

An alternative is modify the site to retain the flash for visual impact, but pull the "text" out of flash and add it to the site. That way you can leverage the flash work that's there but add the content you need for your site to be found.

If keeping some of the flash, you'll definitely want to add a sitemap.

It's tough out there. Good luck.

Been looking at all the topics on link building etc and none of it really seems to make sense, so i am sticking with sending emails to relative car related businesses at the moment to try and build links like that.

If your business is in trouble, I dont think you have time for SEO - it wont happen overnight (and if it does it wont be for long)

SEO (IMO) is a long term continuous effort.

My shout (also owning a business) would be Adwords every time. With the added benefits of being region specific where it needs to be.

It will be much easier to delivery instant traffic using adwords.

At the same time start building backlinks to internal pages and save up for the front page re-design.

Oh, and by the way - get yerself a blog :)

Also, if you want a couple of automotive links, give me a pm - i have 2 for you (PR2) which will save you about 3,000 emails :)

I admire your passion to make it work express enterprise, but you will need to except that flash sites just don't rank well. I would seriously consider whether its worth continuing with your current site.

    This might help you:

Imagine I am a prospective customer who has just got your web address from a magazine or off a flyer. I go to your website and 20 secs later it is still loading. The average web user waits about 8 seconds before loosing patience. You are probably missing sales just because your site takes too long to load up.

Seriously consider whether this site is the way forward, because personally I think your gonna find it difficult to generate income from it.

Please get rid of the hidden text at the bottom of your page first before doing anything else.
