I think I may have failed my exams in uni and my parents said they will kick me out if I do, so i need to generate some revenue asap Ok I have a website which provides quality content for free and I have recently come in to quite a situation. I plan on creating an online store with the websites branded products and selling downloadable products later down the line when i have a large number of readers and followers. The website is like a magazine, everything is free, updated frequently and perfectly organized (unlike most websites nowadays, every article on the site can be found from a click of a button on the home page) I currently incur losses of 60$ a month (hosting + one paid article) I tripled my visits from 25 a day to over 80 by just being more engaging to the 140 twitter followers of the websites twitter page, and writing 2 articles a week But I need WAY MORE TRAFFIC to turn this into a real viable business model and not just some stupid blog on the internet. My goal is to go from 80 -->100-->1,000-->10,000>100,000-->1,000,000 daily visits. I want to be on the same level as the huff post, askmen, techcrunch etc (high traffic high earning websites) I get an average of 20 pageviews per visitor, I have all the pages linked well so they keep reading as they stumble across more articles 53.1% sucessful hits on favicon I just dont know how to take my site to them milestones of 100s of thousands of visitors daily. its a large niche so i know the market is massive. Like I said Im in desperate times and am willing to do whatever it takes to reach that 1,000,000 plus mark. I know it wont be easy but I need to get the ball rolling. Thanks in advance
rdogg,your salespitch on your thread was very good indeed. You have me convinced that you are a mover and a shaker. My advice is to fix your immediate situation first, then work on your traffic later. You need to convince your parents that you have a vision and that you can make it all work. Take the passion that you have displayed on this thread and use it to talk to your parents. Then perhaps they will let you stay if you fail your exams. Good luck to you.
The situation I mentioned is complicated, Im basically in a college course I hate (science), but I want to go all the way down the entrepreneurship road but the thing is my parents are very typical people, they are both doctors they don't believe business and enterprise is in my blood. I don't really think they would kick me out maybe its just to get me to study, but nonetheless, money moves quickly and I have to move with it. Threat of being kicked out or not I have to race to the 1,000,000 mark. So I can get enough money to move out on my own. I would never tell them about my business activities until I have a couple of million dollars to show for even then they would probably still want me to become a doctor Ya I really want to make things click, and shock the world, its not just all about the money I want to own an Empire not a small business.
Adult sites. I try to tell people that having external adult sites with banners/links etc to their main non-adult site is almost a prerequisite when starting out. Nobody wants to listen. Whatever. On my sites I get tens of thousands of visitors a day and I make money every single day. It all started with building a few adult tube sites and linking from them. I've done this so many times that I started offering templates with thousands of movies for others that need traffic. Adult sites bring in traffic by default, lots of traffic. You are guaranteed to get some trickle off to your main site that converts. I have a post in the adult section that you can checkout. I use sites like that everyday to get traffic flowing. If you don't want to be associated with adult content then you could always pay for ads via the Bing Ad center, google ads, linkbucks etc. Good luck
