desktop user names and email info

    When fire up my Comp i have two users on the desk top myself and my partner. If i have an email it states so under to my user-name. This information is also availible to anyone else that sees the desktop (mainly My partner) Can this info be ommited?? That is to say no information about emails on the desk top?
