I've always wanted to learn "desktop programming", but I just don't know where to start. I've learned PHP, but now I want to know how to make stuff for Windows and things.

I don't know where to start though, and what language to start with. I've tried to search but I can't find any useful information about what language is best and easiest to start with. You know.. Delphi, Python, C++ and all that.. which is the best to start with? And what is the difference between C++, C#, Visual C++ (whatever the names are) and all those?

Hope someone can answer this for me :)

Since you know PHP, you can use the GTK library to develop desktop apps.
